Broken circular polariser

I was doing a photoshoot of a clients house yesterday and I was at the front of the house setting up a shot. Whilst I was adjusting the composition of the shot on the tripod my circular polariser decided to fall into 2 peices and the glass has smashed into the sharp angular gravel stones causing several chips in the centre of the glass. The screw thread part was still snuggly fitted to the front of the lens.

Now I will highlight that this filter has NEVER been dropped or even taken any knocks. Just used as normal. Whens it's not being used it goes straight back in it's box. I also never put the camera away with a filter still attached to the front element.

I'm pretty annoyed with how it's fallen apart so I doubt I will buy this brand again.

Onto a question.

Which circular polariser should I buy to replace this? a Hoya maybe?

Thanks for that. Just had a quick look and they are cheaper than what I paid for the one thats broken so thats a bonus I suppose.

Bumping this thread up.

I contacted Marumi directly and asked what would cause this to happen. They explained a few things and sent me a replacement completely free of charge. I received it about 4 3 or 4 days after giving them my address and it was sent via airmail.

The customer service was brilliant and as such I will buy other filters from them in the future.
