Nice use of colors and depth of field, maybe a black background would suit it better though.

The colour and DOF are great.
Some may say the broken pencil is a shame, but I guess from the title it's what you wanted, I like that it gives the image a little extra to look at though.
I would have preferred the top left corner to have included some pencils/ colour.
I'm not sure if you've viewed it, but I'm trying to do 101 photos with pencils, there's a link below. They can be a quick and pleasing shot, but once you get past 50 you struggle not to repeat yourself!
I'm hoping to do more this weekend and was considering blurring the image. I wasn't sure how they would turn out, but I think from looking at yours and the drop off on focus, they should be OK.
Yours has also given me an idea for another composition I don't think I've tried out!
