Bug in the viewfinder

I went to use my 7d today and when I looked through the viewfinder there was a large black dot, turns out its a bug since I've watched it move for a bit, I've tried blowing it out with my rocket blower but it seems its on the other side of the focusing screen D:

I'm gunna wait it out and hope it crawls to the side or something but if it doesn't is it easy to dis-assemble or would it be best to send away (its pretty big, about half the size of the focus squares) and how much do your reckon it would cost?

Stick the 7D on a table in a dark room with the body cap off and a candle or night-light about 6" in front of it....bugs usually find their way out.

I had this with my old 300D, there was no adverse effect on the pictures and maybe it ate some of the dust and other junk that got in there.
You could kill it one way or another by sealing the camera in a bag and gassing it or something?

its not that its dead or alive, its more like its a big distraction and I'd like my viewfinder to be perfect.

Im not sure about leaving the body cap of for any length of time since I'm pretty paranoid about dust, it hasn't moved for a while so Im guessing its probably died :(

I think you should conquer your paranoia rather than have a potential egg laying bug in there.

I'd have thought it'd be a lot easier to clean dust off the sensor than get bits of dead, decaying bug from out of the viewfinder!

It has seemed to have died, it hasn't moved for two days so i phoned canon up earlier and they will clean it and service it under warranty which is excellent however Im a bit worried that the woman on the phone said just send it to elstree with an enclosed letter telling them about it and they will fix it :S and she went on to say how since its under warranty you wont be charged, i've written down what she said and took her name, the usual stuff, it just seems a bit worrying sending my camera away, other times where I've had to do this for example with amazon and my 500d they sent a currier to pick it up :S

This is Canon you're dealing directly with, they know what they're doing. Just do as they say and everything will be just fine. :)

I just bought it at christmas after saving for two years, Im bound to hesitate before sending it away :')

Must have been moonlighting from the local tandoori takeaway, i'm sure Canon won't be that cheapskate
