I have decided to buy a 40D, probably from Kerso in th near future, and i was wondering if any one has any oppinions about the two new lenses from Canon. ie the 18x 55 and the 55x250. Failing a good report on these i would like a good
walk about lens with IS. any recomendations would be
appreciated.

Thanks (y)

You made a decision on the lens in 2.5 hrs!!

Ahh just re-read you must be buying the 40D from him.

Nothing concrete yet, still waiting for a reply. I have sent an email to kerso.

From what are you upgrading to a 40D?

Just curious because the only reason I have not bought the 40 yet is because from what I have seen the noise handling is not great.

I realise I'm opening a LARGE can of worms here but I have yet to see proof to the contrary.

It is a lot of money and for now I will stick with my 20D - UNTIL I'm convinced that the noise handling either improved or it is not as bad as I perceived it to be!

Hi Anton,
I will be upgrading from a 350D,
Don,t know about the noise though. Maybe someone could
elaberate on the subject, it could efect my final choise.

Lens - 17-55 2.8IS
Brilliant - small enough, covers all I need from a walkabout, and I think it has some cashback, which even purchases from Kerso qualify for..

Yes that is a nice upgrade, I went from 350 to 20D and even though the 350 (spec-wise) is on par with the 20D, the latter is just so much more camera!!!

I saw the 20 vs 40D high ISO comparison here:

http://rolandlim.wordpress.com/2007/09/02/canon-eos-40d-review/

About halfway to 2/3 down - If you do not have beroadband, BEWARE!! Don't say you were not warned, this page is about 36 Mb:eek::eek:

Will go have a lookie at luminous landscape now

Cheers

Anton, what do you need to see to check the noise situation? Have you read this:

http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/cameras/canon-40D-handson.shtml

I'm seeing a big difference in noise compared to the 30D.

Had a look, thanks. There are some very nice images in there, but the ultimatetest (to me at least) is apples with apples.

That one "candid portrait" at 800 ISO (to me at least) is hardly "exemplary high ISO performance..."

So Roland Lim's work is still the authority on my planet...

Off to the next linky(y)

This wyofoto link looks interesting...

Downloading to compare now:thinking::clap:(y)

Be back soon

Must say the images here paint a much brighter picture of the 40:thinking:

I am hard pressed to see any difference in noise looking at the 1600 ISO Comparison

Now for a good lookie at the 40 vs 5D

Unfair I know but suddenly I find myself thinking I could consider buying one.

Thanks pxl8!!(y)
