Buying a 5dmk2, HDEW or W/E???

Hi everyone, need some advice or opinions on where might be the better place to buy the above camera with the 24-105.

I've been thinking of going through HDEW as it seems to be a good price (£2140) but now I've just noticed that Warehouse Express have dropped their price to £2149, after stopping the 'free' battery grip deal. As the prices are so similar, who would be better?

I was hoping to get the 24-70 but have now decided, after about a month of back and forth!, to go with the 105 and try and get a Sigma 85 1.4 for a fast lens in a few months time.

WE would be a UK model as iirc HDEW would be an import/grey - if you do a search for HDEW you will find many a post regarding them - a few members on here have brought from them (HDEW) and they recommend them quite highly...

So as Graham would say "the choice is yours" (thats not our FITP Graham neither) :p

Of the 2, personally if the price is virtually the same, I'd opt for WEX - this will be a UK body / lens and Canon UK will honour the warrenty if there are any issues, whereas they won't with the one from HDEW - HDEW honour the warrenty, having said that, there's is more than 12 months, so ???

And as Steve says, there are various threads on here rec HDEW.

Another option for an import is to try Ian Kerso on here - in the suppliers section, he imports from the USA and I beleive I have read Canon UK will honour the warrenty on these bodies - it might be worth dropping him a line

Definitely WEX and go through Quidco or the like to get some cashback as well - 2% cashback on the £2149 exc. VAT works out at £35, so really it's cheaper anyway and you get the full UK warranty.

HDEW are definitely good to deal with, but as most people say the warranty could be an issue although they are offering three years at HDEW on the 7D. If you hold on a little bit more you may see a price drop from HDEW as they are normally a fair bit cheaper than the UK. Hope this helps :)
 
Thanks for the replies peeps! I did see a few posts with the words 'grey imports' when looking up HDEW but like you say it seems a lot of people have had good experiences with them so I definitely wouldn't shun them too quickly.

I did decide to try and go with W/E as I felt it was a larger/ more reputible(?) company but as is the story of my life I left it until there were 12 mins left before guaranteed next day delivery and when I went to put the order through my bank stopped it! Do'h!

I recieved a phone call 20 mins later asking if I'd tried to make the purchase! Good service from the bank I suppose but I'd much rather be waiting for the door bell to ring tomorrow :)

Having said all that it seems even Jessops are doing the same package at the same price and the nearest store with stock is only 16 miles away so may still have one by the weekend yet...
