Buying a lens with security seal broken

Popped into currys as they have Canon 50mm f1.8 for £76 at the moment. The only two lenses they had were one on display or one with security seal broken which i can only assume has been opened and put back in for whatever reason. I have inspected it as best I can and got them to document on receipt but have i been foolish to buy it unsealed? I have checked and I can return it if need be.
 
Shouldn't be a problem, you've got canon warranty and a big retailer so I wouldn't have an issue!
 
Just give it a run through the apertures. Make sure it's stopping down and the exposures ok, AF works as it should and I'm sure it will be spot on.
 
Whenever I've been in Currys and asked to see a product they tend to just open a box and show the first one on the shelf. Perhaps that's all that was done with the lens.
 
Thanks for the reassurance guys. I think I'm a bit paranoid! Once my 40D arrives will give it a good test :-)
