Funny ,when your selling your old film gear to a camera shop its not worth a lot because no one uses film anymore but when your buying its a collector item because film is making a come back,happend to me in a shop in the north west

It's the same with any business, I've found guitar shops are particularly greedy.
You do have to bear in mind though, that private sellers and buyers on here don't have business overheads which is why we can get decent prices both ways.

It's nothing to do with greed, it's about supply and demand and how long the capital will be tied up in an item before it will sell.

I would never consider selling anything to a shop, be it a guitar, car, audio equipment or camera gear. They have to make a profit to stay in business, and that means you getting around 40% - 60% of what any item is worth on the open market.
