Buying 'Chinese' accessories

Why don't people do it? I'm thinking of buying a wireless remote for my Nikon whihc is only £2 from China but costs £15 here. And I'm under the impression that people buy the £15 version more. Why?
 
In my case, some accessories (e.g. vertical grips), while cheaper also lose a lot of the functionality provided by the original.

Not averse to cheap cables, etc. but in some cases there are compromises when buying non-original parts and the decision has to be made whether to accept the compromise or not.

only if you buy the wrong grip off ebay...

yeah, just buy it, hell, buy 2 if you're worried about it breaking. It's not in the optical chain, and it works... so who cares? lol
 
main reason not to would be delivery time in my experience. If you can wait, then it's a no brainer. Also, some remotes only have the 2 second delay and not immediate, so if that's important to you, check with the vendor.
 
I'm very tempted to buy the compatible GPS for nikon from HK for about £55...
 
I have a £2 IR remote for my D90... works fine.

Got here quickly too !
 
Have one of those myself. Since its not a part of the camera itself I don't see a reason why spend more if the 2 quid one works. Well at least mine works perfectly well.
 
I bought a genuine ML-L3 Nikon IR remote on the High Street because I needed it that evening and nowhere on the web could deliver that fast.

The Meike / Link delight one for my camera loses many of the controls that are on the original. Anyone else selling seems to be selling theirs.

I use those controls, so I went for an original. Others may not so a copy might suit them better.
 
Didn't someone on here short out their main PCB board by using Chinese copy grip?
