Buying my first flash

HELP!

I'm after my first flash
I'll mainly be using it off camera to light my subjects and add a little extra to my photos, but will stick it on the body occasionally when the need arises and for general holiday snaps etc.

I've been looking at the Nissin di622 as it's around the £100 area my budget accounts for, but i'd like to know the main advantages of say a di866 over the 622?

I'll also be needing a remote flash trigger!

I haven't got the first clue about flashes so if you could hit me with some advice that'd be great

The Nissins are great units. The di866 is brighter, recharges faster and has a few more goodies than the di622. It can also act as a master unit/commander, controlling more flashes if you decide to add to the system later, the di622 can only be used as a slave. The di866 also has an inbuilt fill light on the front that helps when you are bouncing the flash.
