Caliberating a screen on a Laptop?

It is the same as calibrating any monitor, you need a hardware calibration device, something like a Spyder or an EyeOne.

i toyed with the idea of doing my laptop but i havent decided if the change of screen brightness between running on battery and mains would cock it up.. i should really install the spyder on it and see..

I switched that bit off, or can you set power profiles on windows, you could have an editing profile where that is switched off...

I tried the Spyder3 express on my Dell Lappy and it could not even start the calibration? not quite sure why but it could have been the brightness.
The spyder worked fine on my Eizo main monitor.

I have spyder3 running on my Dell desktop and laptop with no problems at all.:)

Problem with a lot of laptops is tht the contrast and colour rendition varies a lot depending on viewing angle - so you need to make sure you are straight on to the screen

agree totally, I do have to move the screen a bit on the laptop and only use the laptop for viewing, do all my editing on the desktop
