Camera Bag for Ultra Running / Hiking ?

Howdy - bit of an odd request this one (or perhaps not) ... but I'm after a bag which would allow me to carry my Fuji kit (XE2 + a few lens) along with gear to allow for long distance trail running and potential overnight wild camp ... Key though will be to allow long distance trail running with easy (and safe) access to the camera kit ...

Been looking at the F-Stop range (although seems difficult to source in the UK) ... as well as LowePro Photo Sport Sling

Anyone done their research in this area and care to share?

I would forget about camera bags and look for one designed for running. A camera can be put in anything but a good fitting bag designed for the purpose is vital if you're not going to shred your back to pieces.

Sorry, yes this is what I meant - a bag that is for running .. but also can store camera kit - not slosh about inside it ....

I've seen people use F-Stop inserts with their regular bag.
Has the advantage that you can pack the most appropriate bag you have for for amount of extra kit needed for things like a wild camp, and you can choose a bag with a nice comfy back
Can be waterproofed by stuffing the insert in a suitable Exped dry sack.

I think you're going to struggle.

For obvious reasons, running packs tend to be pretty tight fitting with lots of cinch down and elasticated pockets. I haven't seen one that I'd want to run a long way in that you could get an XE-2 out of quickly.

I have a Saloman S-Lab 5 and it's great to run in and pretty easy to get a compact camera into/out of. But I wouldn't take my X-E1 in it. Friends who run further or pack more rate the S-Lab 12 very highly.

If you really want to do this then I think your best bet might be the WAA Ultra bag (http://www.ultramarathonrunningstor...ULTRABAG-MDS-20L-Pack-p/waaultrabagmds20l.htm) which has a front pouch which might hold an XE2. There were a couple of guys running with these at my race on Saturday and they looked pretty nice. I'd either check in an ultra forum or give Ultramarathon Store a call before you decide. It's really going to come down to how far you want to run and how much you want to carry - but really I'd take a compact.
