Cameras straps ?

I spent quite a bit of money on them (Black Rapid),but watching the superbowl the other night,and a lot news reports when you see the photographers,they seem happy just with the manafacture strap.

Are they just tight gits :D ?
 
just like bags, they are a personal preference.

or perhaps at their level, they are sick of taking photos, and don't actually own any photography gear. the straps they wear are what was on the camera when they got it from Canon/Nikon.
 
I think with sports photography the strap is there to carry it from the bag to the field/court. Once there the camera is either in use or on the floor while another is so a strap is of little value.

I will bow to experience here but it's what I've picked up from sports photo articles.
 
Well I'm going for a 10 mile walk Sat with 5D2 and 70-200 round my neck and will be using a BR type strap for sure because of the weight. But I can see why you'd just have a neck strap if you're standing in a fixed position.

One of the reasons I started using BR straps is I use my cameras on a tripod quite a lot and I found they always seemed to be in the way, the BR straps are very quickly removed altogether so I don't have that problem.

I have been a Q Strap user for quite some time but after nearly losing a lens over the weekend I was tempted to move over to the BR system.

However, I looked around and have just bought myself an Op tech sling strap. I like the fact it is modular and using this I can now have two points attached when dangling my D700 and 70-200. One connector to the lens, the other to the camera body. Just gives me that safe feeling that I have a 'backup'.

Not that the connector should snap. Last night I suspended 3x the weight of my camera combination from the connector and shook it. It held comfortably. The rated max weight is actually 60+kg.

LOL reading this, i'm tempted just to do a review in the right section. But just thought it might be another option to consider given it is much cheaper than the BR strap.

I have the OP/Tech sling, I thought the design was flawed if you use as intended on the camera strap lug.

I wrote a full review in 2011: http://www.cpearson.me.uk/2011/02/optech-utility-strap-sling-review/ but as a rough update unless I'm carrying it all day now I don't use a strap at all and just hold it. I haven't bought a BR as I was going to as I just don't use the strap enough any more.

But we digress from the original question.
