Can any compact tripod take a Canon 5D plus big lens?

I've got a good, heavy Red Snapper tripod which is great but I need something that I can fit to my Lowepro Flipside 400 backpack and carry around all day on long hikes. Is there anything cheapish and light and compact enough to take my 5D full frame camera and a 24-105mm lens weighing approx 1 kg? I don't mind it being flimsy as long as it's got a bag hook so I can weigh it down. I can probably get some CF fancy one from Manfrotto or whatever for £200+ but I don't want to spend that kind of money if possible.

There are 3 factors governing tripods

1 Sturdy
2 Light
3 Cheap

You can have any two out of those three. But you cannot have all three.

I have a Velbon Sherpa Pro CF-545. It's carbon fibre, fairly light and compact, and has a hook. I got it used off ebay for about £60 as a buy-it-now in the early hours of the morning when it had only been up for an hour or so. It's a discontinued model. You can trawl ebay looking for one or similar [they do variations], or their replacement model.
