I have a C6280 with a set of re-fillable ink cartridges and ink. This would cost maybe a few pounds over your budget at about £140-150 BUT I have been really impressed with the quality of the print. Solid areas of colour with no banding. CHEAP to run. Good scanner. Stand alone colour photocopier and memory card reader. Scan to memory card etc. Network socket on the back so you can print from mac or pc etc. I have been an Epson man for years but this is a really good printer for everyday use.

thanks cowasaki. i will take a look at that one. could you tell me what the ink consumption i like?

Its pretty good really. I buy a box of 5 reams of paper about 2-3 times a year so I would consider myself quite a heavy user. I got several months out of the supplied cartridges. I then bought a set of refillable cartridges which were £10 plus £18 for the ink. This is enough ink to fill all the cartridges about 4 times. The ink colours are pretty much an exact match for HP's own. Not only that but using the syringes it is a completely mess free 5 minute job to re-fill all the cartridges and re-fit them. All in all I am really very pleased with it. My biggest surprise was the quality which is excellent.

Hi,

I have the Canon MP540, produces very high quality photo prints - as good as my previous Epson R220

simon

i just took a look at this one and it also seems good. whats most appealing though is the price, £87.99. could you tell what the ink consumption is like and the replacement costs.

thanks

steve

I've no idea I never intended to use the genuine ones they were always going to be replaced by the re-fillable cartridges.

It is that good that I am actually thinking of replacing my still working Samsung CLP500 colour laser printer with a second one even after buying the extra paper drawer! If you do buy one let me know and I will dig out the refillable ink cartridge supplier so that you get some that we know are really good!
