You will still pay paypal fees etc but ebay will only charge you £1 its a great saving on expensive sales, to give you an example I sold a lens for £3000 and paid £1 where it would have been £300 (10% standard ebay charge) on top of paypal's charges, its a no brainer to list when they have these offers if you have anything of value to sell.

As long as you accept the invitation first then all of your sales will be £1 selling fee (+ Paypal and listing fees if they apply, most have free listing options).

I believe you can't delete a post once it's been replied to.
As Gramps said such questions are often of use to the rest of us, possibly even tempting us to think about getting rid of some gear. I won't fool my self that I'll actually do it!
