cannot see nef files

I have Windows 7 but i cannot preview thumbnails in the file folder....any ideas??:thinking:

have installed all the codecs i can find in relation to it and use faststone to view my files before pp in photoshop cs5:bang:
 
Should be a downloadable codec for your camera from manufacturer I had to do this when moving to win7 with nikon raw files
 
I think this has something to do with the NEF codec only being 32 bit which causes it not to show in 64bit Windows 7.

However, the weird thing is I have some NEFs which do show the thumbnail preview and others which don't. I have a feeling it might be something to do with how they were transferred to the PC - ie via Nikon Transfer or with the card reader.

But I might be completely wrong. :shrug:

If it's 64bit Windows 7 then it's very likely to be the codec pack (or lack of). I had the same problem with Canon raw files, and used Fastpictureviewer codec to resolve the preview issue.
