Hi,

Would the above Lens be Ok for Zoo Caged Animal Close up shots.

Mounted on a 5D Mk III.

The bigger the zoom the closer you will get.

For me this is a lens on my wish list for location portraiture,

Look at fellow member Cuthbert pics to see what I mean.

#For the zoo I use to have a 70-200L f2.8, did a pretty good job.

Have Edited the Question, I have a 70-300L for the Longer shots.

Here I am referring to the 135L (f2)??
 
A caged rhino will inevitably need a different focal length to a caged meerkat so your question needs some additional qualification.

In the mean time, as you know what animlas you're aiming for, here's the formula to help you decide.

(Distance to subject / length of subject) * 36 = focal length required

Eg....A 2.5m tiger at 7.5m distance would need around 108mm to fill the frame (horizontally speaking)
