Canon 24-105 vs canon 24-70 F/4

Hi all I'm contemplating on purchasing one of these 2 lenses canon 24-105 F4L IS USM and the canon 24-70F/4L IS USM. I was wandering if anyone has used both of these lenses and what your thoughts are on them? The 24-70 has a better IS and is meant to be sharper than the older 24-105 and slightly brighter at the same apertures (so I hear) but I would love to hear from anyone with hands on experience. Many Thanks. .
 
I'm interested in the answer too :-) For what it's worth, I am a long time user of the 24-105 f/4 and find nothing wanting in the sharpness department when using in the studio (typically apertures f/5.6 to f/10). With a great zoom range, I wonder what's the advantage of the 24-70 f/4? I do have the 24-70 f/2.8 Mk 1, and that's a great lens for other reasons!

I toyed with the idea of the 24-70 f4 but decided against it.

Quicker to swipe than type.......

The 24-70mm f/4 includes one relatively unusual feature - a macro mode offering up to 0.7x magnification, which is accessed by pulling forward the zoom lock switch and rotating the zoom ring past the 70mm mark. This is complemented by Canon's 'Hybrid IS' that's specifically designed to give better performance for close-up work.

In other words - a decent 'walkabout' lens. Less focal range than the 24-105 f4, not as fast at the 24-70 f2.8 but handy for those who want to get a little closer without going 'macro'.
