Canon 300 2.8is Focus Preset?

Anyone use it? I've taped all my lenses up but wondering if it's actually of much use and if people use it in real world situations?

pointless in my eyes, refocussing to the same point a certain distance away many times cannot be too difficult! and i can never see anyone needing to refocus to the same point over and over again so much that they deem it necessary to make a focus preset.
 
Hi Adam,

I've used it to prefocus on a Kingfisher perch. That way I could return to it instantly whilst photographing other birds. It works great in this type of situation.
 
I use it when shooting baseball or soccer. It's very useful and when shooting goal sports it's a must... It's easy to set up and use, but must admit took a little getting used to when I first started using it..

Try shooting baseball. You will soon find out how slow you lens focuses. You have two players running at the same time to first and second base, you shoot the batter on his way to first, swing the lens to catch the other sliding into second.. You will realize just how useful it is. You will never get the sequence without it... ;)
