Canon 350D lens range & image sensors.....

I'm looking for the range of lenses compatible with a 350D. In know the EF & EF-S ranges are but does the 350D have APS-C image sensors....and what are they?:thinking:

Any EF or EF-S lens will work on a 350D, it has an APS-C sensor which is fractionally smaller than a FF sensor (equivalent to 35mm camera) what it means is that any focal length appears 1.6 longer so to get the same coverage using a 500mm lens if you were using a FF camera like the Canon 5D2 you would need an 800mm lens. At the other end of the scale a 24mm wide angle lens used on a crop camera like the 350D is effectively 38mm so no such a wide angle.

Hope that clarifies things a bit. The 350D is a great little camera, still use mine from time to time.

As Ken said above...

Depending on what lenses you have, the 50mm 1.8 is a cracker - can be had new for around £75. For a zoom, the 55-250IS is a belter and could be had for a very good price - around £140/150 as the mark II is out / due out.

Just beware the older third party EF mount lenses! Some work wide open only and others won't work at all!
 
In short, the 350d is pretty much on the same level as any other Canon DSLR, with the exception of the Full Frame bodies, such as the 7D, 5D and 1D. And even then they take the same lenses...they just perform differently.

Sorry but your comments just confuse things more,

Neither the 7D or 1D are Full Frame as you state,

The 7D has the same size APS-C (1.6 crop) Sensor as the 350D albiet with many more Pixels!, and the 1D has a APS-H (1.3 crop) Sensor

Only the 5D range and 1Ds range have a Full Frame (35mm Equiv Sensor)

And Neither the 5D Range 1D Range or 1Ds Range can accept the EFs lenses that work on the 350D and all other 1.6 Crop Sensor Camera's including the 7D, (Except the very old D30/D60/10D)
