No
Ive tried to zoom into Canon EF 75-300mm USM III
anything other than that is out of my noob needs or budget
And it is easily available in the market.
Any other lens recommendation is highly welcome.

You need to buy mine! It's a 28-135 IS USM in the For Sale section now! ;)

what is your budget and what do you shoot (landsape, people, wildlife, insects)...
tell us that and we might have more of a chance helping you out

people - mostly indoors , about 300$ USD

sambonebs , i would prefer a 2nd hand as im starting out, but im in india.

Ah, well - that's not a major problem - it's a pretty good lens for the money, but I'm not sure I'd be confident sending it all that way. How would you feel?

Indoors, people..

People : 35mm speak I'd go for something that covers 50mm (natural eye length) and 100mm (portraits). Using a 400D you've a 1.6 crop factor so you'll want 30-80mm approx. There are lots of lenses that cover this range.
Indoors : here's your problem. You should get really fast lenses f2.8 or better, but you wont do that for <$300 IMHO. Plus you'll need a flash

Im also a little confused as to the lenses make, tamron lenses can also be used , but is it advisable to always buy lens of the same company as the maker ?

I wont be covering anything other than people, ive no interest in landscape or flora fauna animals birds bees or sports, I will be just taking closeups of people, indoors in auditoriums. What do you think would be the best lens to suit this purpose & not burn a hole in my pocket, considering im just a newbie as well :)

I will be flying down to bangkok this week , ive heard the prices are cheaper than what i get in India.

Any recommendations for beginner level tamron & are they cheaper & better than what i would get a canon lens for. Flash is also on my buy list as it is an essential part, 430 is pretty expensive here though , will checkout a few more offers.

Tamron 28-75 f2.8 - $ 300ish new from Ebay.
or Sigma 24-70 f2.8 - $ 300ish new from Ebay

The Canon badge normally carries a premium, and you can get a good performing alternative at a good saving.

or buy used and save some more money.

Flashguns - Sigma EF500 or Metz / Sunpak are alternatives

getting a used one is pretty hard around here otherwise that would really have been the best way for me to try out quite a few lenses.
Someone i like the Tamron 18-200 & 18-250 for the modest needs at the moment (one lens does it all) before moving on to specialised ones.
