canon 430ex v 580ex2 speedlight

i have the canon 430ex but have problems inside the church and dark halls i need to bump up the iso and give the flash full power the 580 is very expensive is it worth the upgrade ?

maybe its technique rather than flash power? Could you post some examples please, with exif intact.

are we talking fill or outright power to light.


if you are using it on AV or TV then it will be fill rather than trying to illuminate the subject so it won't matter if you use a 430 or 580 in that situation

580 wins on power but TBH, for general work I'd go for a 430 - nearly half the price but a very solid piece of kit that will do everything you ask of it

we shoot weeddings in gloomy churches.
when were lucky enough to get permission to shoot inside.
the wife 580 blows my 430 into the weeds, in all situations.
really depends on what you can afford though. there is a hell of a price difference.
the 430 is still a very good piece of kit.
