Not sure, but do take into account its not a lens canon will service any more, some independents may have some old stock or used parts.

They have a 500 F4.5 in marked (externally) condition, its only just come in today or yesterday I think. Didnt see a price next to it though.

If its the same one i saw then i think a digit was missing. Otherwise it was a cracking price.

I found one but I do not know how much I should accept to pay as it is difficult to find what a fair price would be, that is why I started this thread!

Bare in mind there is probably no support for this lens, as far as i know there are very few spares for the non IS lenses now. May be worth trying it out before you buy.

I have seen them around the £900 mark in good condition, as been said Canon no longer support this lens & spares are getting harder.

Park Cameras had one yesterday, I think it was £599 or £699, it's gone now. It was a lot of lens for that money.

Will it work with Kenko 2x tc and AF on an 1D (at f9) if I tape the pins?

Its a lot of money to spend on a lens, I would check out how old it is as well.

It would AF but wouldn't be brilliant.

Think the 1d series will auto focus with the center spot upto f8. So you should not need to tape the pins.

Last question. Do you think that with the 1.4TC (at 700mm) it will be sharper than the 300mm 2.8 IS with the 2x TC (at 600mm)?
