I am on the verge of purchasing a Canon 580 EXII speedlite.
I was just wondering what batteries people are using. I've read varying reports on the success of rechargeable batteries? Any advice or experience really appreciated...
Are these any good? I need a new charger and would like another 4 batteries for my 430EX II. Currently have Energizer 2450mAh ones that seem OK but yet to run them down.
I use them on a 580EX II, I think Uniross is a good brand name for batts  and they are 2700's so they should be good on the face of things. In the real world they have never let me down but I don't do weddings etc and the only time I have pushed them was last weekend when I had a go at taking motox enduro pics in a dense wood. The flash was working hard and every now and then would 'miss' a flash due to the recharge rate.
The charger is great and comes with a 12v ciggy adapter for the car if you get stuck.
I've heard peeps say this isn't good for the batts as it cooks them but I have read a bit on this and never seen any proof or facts.
I would say these would suit most togs unless you're work involves mainly using the flash!
Thanks for the replies - I think I will just try normal AA batteries. If things start getting expensive look at investing in a quality set of rechargeables + charger.
Uniross hybrio and a 15 minute charger. Keep their charge for up to a year. No complaints yet. Always 4 in flashgun and 2 spare sets (of 4) in camera bag.
