Canon 580EXII hotshoe weather seal??

Hey everyone,

I've got a Canon 580exII (got it 2nd hand last year) but it never had the weather seal on the hotshoe.

Just wondering if anyone knew if these are possible to buy?
If so how much would they be and where would you recommend buying from?

Not the most important thing ever but would be nice to have.

you may get lucky just by searching on ebay for them, failing that you could find someone selling a dead one and ask if they will take it off for you. there are a fair few camera spares shops on ebay that may stock them
 
or buy a off camera cable for the flash and putt the rubber bits off it and fit it to your flash gun.

Contacting canon or the repair centers may be a good place to start spares don't seem to be that expensive.
 
The rubber seal you want is Canon part# CY2-1814 "Cover, accessory shoe"

Approximate cost $ 7.50 in the US so I'd guess about £5 in the UK....try Lehmanns in Stoke by filling in this form and awaiting a reply

Thanks for the help guys, emailed around a few places as Canon Bob suggested and AJ Johnstone turned out to be the cheapest so will order from them on monday (for reference, incase anyone is interested it was £10 from them, £12 from H Lehmanns and £15 from Colchester Camera repair.)

Im guessing its pretty simple to fit?
 
Sounds good Ryan. As for fitting, I'm a firm believer in anything that falls off can be made to fall on again with ease.
