Canon 5D Mk2... got a "bee in my bonnet"

oh my..........don't you lot be tempting me! Insanely jealous.........I think it's only a matter of time before I take the plunge too. The other half is wanting an SLR so I may as well give my 40D to her when I decide to.

Is there any news of a 5dmkIII?

late this year most likely... someone from Canon told me.

Interesting.........some rumours online saying it will have the better AF system that is on the 7D, which sounds like the most obvious update to the 5DII. I may just have to wait for it........bet it will cost an arm, a leg and some more though!

Upgraded fro the 40d to 7d, great camera but I had stuck pixels and low iso grain. Upgraded to the 5d mkII and couldn't be happier, AF isn't as bad as some say either, it'll track the majority of subjects from running dogs to cars in my case when I tested the AF out.

Thanks for the replies everyone..

Firstly I'm glad to see it's not just me who decides they "need" things

Thanks to Peter who PM'd me two sample images 3200 and 6400 (same shot, just different ISO) and wow, I did a shot on my 50D after using the same settings, and it's a damn site noisier!

I don't really shoot fast moving stuff apart from my dogs, and I'm pretty sure the AF would be fine for them? (They aren't that fast!) I've just bought some studio lighting, and a backdrop etc.. my photography is definitely moving more towards people (which isn't something I expected!)

Maybe sell my backup body (20D currently), keep the 50D as backup and get the 5Dmk2?

Dave.

Your story is my story - I just did it all this week :)
40D backup to the 5DII (for the 10-22) and 20D is up for sale here :)

Images are very clean and impressibe - I just need to get out and use it now :)
