My 5d developed a strange quirk some time ago: when you view images on the rear display it retains the red dots denoting where the focus was (the ones that show through the viewfinder when you take the shot). They don't appear on the downloaded images so not really a problem but quite odd. Wondered if anyone else had experienced this?

I don't think it's worth looking a fixing just curious to know if there is a general fault?
 
that happens on my 7D its not a fault & nothing to worry about
 
It's a custom function....
 
It shows the focus point that is in focus on the shot......

Aha - I must have turned it on by accident. You don't happen to know which menu it's in? Save me searching through the hundreds of options in the menus.
 
It would be quicker just to look in the manual!
 
Dangerous though, a chap could get a paper cut :shake: so it's much safer to ask other chaps on line :D

Ah, that's why you should always keep it at hand! Mines in my camera bag, as there's always something that crops up! I'd offer the answer but my camera bags at home, lol!
 
It's af point display
When you hit menu button it's the 4th one across from the left it is with highlight alert,histogram,slide show etc just change it to disable ..... Hope this makes sense
