canon 5d repair?

hi all

after many years of faithful service my canon 5d (mk 1) has finally packed in (mirror problem).

can anyone let me know the procedure for repair at canon? or do I bin it and get a new one???!!

Hi Steve,

If its the main mirror that has detached then you should be eligible for a Free Repair.

As it say you can get get in touch to have the camera repaired at any Canon Authorised centre or send it to Canon RCC at Elstree. See Here for Aythorised Service Facilities

Probably the whole mirror box assembly would be replaced. Out of warranty at least here in Finland I'd be expecting a bill for about £400 but they will probably quote you on the phone in 5 minutes.
