Have any other owners had this problem?

Built in flash will not pop up...

Not that I use it but in the flash menu, it will not recognise a speedlite as it thinks there is a flash connected to the hotshoe.

To that end the camera won't speak to the speedlite.. Nor will the flash pop up...

Have tested it in a local jessops...thanks Alex and team!

Canon state to send it back... Retailer has now knocked off for the weekend!!

Typical when you have 2 shoots planned over the weekend! It still works on the camera but wanted to remote the flash and wouldn't have known if I hadn't tested today...

Arrrrrggghhh!!

It's kaput!

Should have bought a Nikon :exit:

If the hotshoe is in anyway similar to previous models, then there is a pressure switch under the metal spring plate on the RHS of the mount which may well have got wedged with a bit of dirt or dust.

There should be quite a few walk-throughs on the net if you Google it.

It's not the best solution, but it might get you up and running over the weekend!

Sorted!!! Thanks a lot!! Used a bic pen and applied a small bit of pressure and voilà!!

Perhaps a I have had a few remotes connected to it over the last few weeks it caused it??

Thanks again!

No probs. It's one of those niggly little faults that's hard to diagnose unless you've heard of it before.

Glad that you got it sorted! :D
