Need advice on a Wireless flash for my 7D. Is it just the ex430 2 speedlight that can do this or are there others, would e looking at 2 at the same time...........
 
I've got a 7D and use a Nissin Di866 flash. I have set that up for wireless and I know the Di622 will work wirelessly also. The Di866 goes for about £200 and the Di622 for around £100, so you could get 3 of the Di622's for less than the price of a 580 EX II.

Yes. 7D's pop-up acts as a master controller for any E-TTL compatible flash. Canon, Nissin, Metz, Sigma.

If you want radio E-TTL, it's a lot more money.
 
My 600d has the same wireless function and I've got a set of sigma supers which it can trigger wirelessly whilst keeping the e-ttl
 
Im after one that i can shoot with out using the flash on the camera if you get what i mean........

You can switch off the flash to stop it affecting the image, but it will still look like it's flashing when it sends the pre-flash master signals.

Or there are other options. What do you what to do, what's your budget, E-TTL or manual? Options range from £30 to £300-plus.
 
I have a 580 ex mk1 but that dosent have infared :-( so budget isnt a problem really would trade that in, want something silent, sleek and smaller, possibly a 430mk2?? But can i use 2 at the same time......?
 
The 580 should be fine in slave mode. You need to pop the flash up on the 7d, but as Richard says you can suppress the onboard flash exposure from the camera menu. This will still visibly flash but won't affect the actual exposure.
 
I want it completly wireless though, the 580mk1 doesnt have infared does it....?

Yes, 580 is both a master and slave. Canon system is either visible light, ie the 580 or the 7D's pop-up, or semi-IR like the ST-E2 (also the Yongnuo ST-E2 clone, which is cheaper and seems to be better).
 
Hey Greg, cant you send for the manual from canon support. Or see if you can find a friend to download it from canons website and put it on a disc. If you PM me your address I'd get it on a disc and send it for you as I've just downloaded it. Or, if you understand loads of foreign languages you can have my backup manual book.

Wouldn't of offered if I wasn't serious. It's only a 13.5mb file so it'll fit on a disc easily, but it's too big to email. Just PM me and I'll get it sorted.
 
Can try, never used an iphone so I haven't a clue. Try the drop box first if you like, but if all else fails you can just PM your address and I can get it there that way.
 
The 430EX works just fine as a wireless flash and costs less.
