Canon 7D - How to turn off self timer light

Hi guys, i do a lot of astro photography and need the self timer, but the light that flashes when the self timer is activated really disrupts my night vision, just wondering if any one know's how to turn off the self timer light (orange) as i cant find a way any where in the settings

I do believe that's C Fn III
11 - AF assist beam firing. Select disable.

no i tried that, thats just for when you can not gain focus it shoots out that orange light to try to focus, it makes no difference for the self timer light if that is enabled or disabled

long time hazza, hope you been good mate, yes i was hoping to turn it off to save battery as much as i can, along with my night vision, but looks like i might have to resort to blue tac

Good thanks, keeping myself busy! Can't think of any other way to get rid of it TBH!

A bit of black gaffer tape maybe.

i think i prefer the blue tac option, less messy to get off i would think
