Can anyone help me in making the decision on getting a new battery, i am buying a new battery grip for my 40D and i am also buying a new battery, i think i should stick to the canon BP-511A for £50 instead of buying the cheaper £25 one.

Please Help........Paul

get a cheap one

search the suppliers / traders on here for a cheap deal ;)

I've used compats in the past and they usually rival or outlast the Canon item :)

I use two of the cheap ones in my grip without any problems at all.

You get 2 for a tenner! they're fine, I've had a pair now for over a year and had no problems.

1300 or 1600 mAh from memory

never had a problem with the 4 or 5 compats i've had from 7day though, in a grip alongside the original canon item you'll shoot all day with no problems.

This battery is an extra high quality 7.4v (and super high capacity) 1500mAh lithium-ion replacement

From the link I posted above ^

Good Grief! That's cheap.

I'm using an original plus a cheap(er) unit in my grip without any problems or issues. But not THAT cheap.

well thanks for your help on the matter folks its all food for thought, do you charge them both at the same time while in the grip?

Kerso sells the Canon original BP511 for a tenner inc postage I think.

last time i paid for a tenner i got Pavarotti..
