Hi,
Looking at a few of your signatures there seems to be a few people using this lens on here.
Before I part with the best part of £1000 ,pro/con feedback would be appreciated.
This will be used for 4 wheel sport. I use a 70-200 f4 L and 17-40L for MX/enduro as you can get far closer to the action but places like Silverstone you have a fair bit of distance between you and the car/bike.
I was going to buy a converter for the 70-200 but would prefer a lens built for the task.
Thanks:)

I am well chuffed with it....I have used it at Brands Hatch and Snetterton and the reach if awesome...only thing that lets it down is the 4.5-5.6....

Maybe another option may be the Sigma 120-300 2.8.....a lot of people seem to love this lens and I believe a lot of pro's are using it too..

The F is the downfall but still seems a cracking lens.
There is a F2.8 400mm L going for just over £1600 secondhand but not really sure I wish to spend that much for the next 6 months or so.:(

I have own(ed) both the Canon 100-400 and Sigma 120-300.

Where the 100-400L excels is it's weight. It's half the weight of the Sigma: 1.3kg vs 2.6kg.
The Sigma also lacks IS - not really needed for Motorsport though.

Personally if I was you I'd either get the Sigma 120-300 F2.8 or the Canon 300mm F4 IS.
You already have a 70-200 so why cover that range again with another (slower) lens?!?!

I was sat in the pitlane on the floor to get these two. I'm not quite ready for Darwin award status yet!:D
