Hi there borrowing this lens for taking some pics of my niece tomorrow. Was thinking of maybe offering him some money to buy it off him for a fill in until I save some cash for a better lens what you think ?? seems to be in good nick.
Not really sure now old is it? what was the cost new? Tired to google search the cost but am at work and with the it restrictions the only site i could access from google was this thread
The Canon 28-135mm IS USM can be bought new for around the £300 mark (Warehouse Express : £295+p&p). The lens doesn't come with a hood and a Canon one is £20. If the lens you're after is in mint condition I'd be expecting to pay around £250 without a hood or £260+ with the hood. If the condition is less than mint then the price will obviously have to reflect the condition. Try Kerso for a new one - he might surprise you.
Cheers Canon Bob for the price will get back to him and see what he say's.
It is in good nick just the smallest scrach on the front glass but not noticable on the pictures.
Any body have any idea where I could get it cleaned?? in the West coast of Scotland or is there something I could use ie damp cloth just abit dirty from not being used as he has a L lens now.
For around £70 should be bargin until I save for something better will try for something lower
The price shown was for good condition...a scratch on the front lens would have quite a drastic effect on that price.
You say that it doesn't show on the pictures....have you tried shooting with the sun/light at differing angles? Any scratch is likely to induce some flare.
Close focus at minimum zoom and shoot about 90 degrees to a bright light source.
