Canon EF Lens and Extender Help

Hi All,

Im new to the Forum and am after some help with a problem i have, well i think i have a problem.

Anyway i have a Canon 5D mkII, and i have just brought the following lens.

Canon 70-200M F4l IS USM and i also brought the x2 II Extender

When i have them both attached the AutoFocus doesnt work.

Is this correct or do i have a problem.

You don't have a problem, this is correct. Only 1 series bodies will autofocus
at f8 with a 2x extender.

What Chas says is true BUT you can fool cameras by using taped pins on the TCs or non-reporting TCs or by using periperal AF points which sometimes focus when the centre points do not.

The use, or not, of TCs when giving a native aperture smaller than f8 is a bit of a hit and miss affair really !
