Canon EF-S 1.4 extender Can you get them?

Could anyone tell me if an extender (1.4 or 2.0) is available for the 18-55 IS and the 55-250 IS Canon lenses please?

Simple answer is No.

Canon's 1.4x and 2x TC are designed only for the L series lenses. Another problem would be if you could add an extender to these lenses, you would only be able to manual focus the lens as all canon crop sensor camera's won't autofocus with lenses slower than f5.6

The 1D series of pro bodies autofocus upto f8.

if I remember rightly someone posted on here if you fit a canon tube after the extender the ef-s lens will fit

Basically no. The rear of EFS lenses extends too far out for an extender to fit, even if it was a desirable combination.

If you do it via an extension tube in order to create the necessary clearance, you will only be able to focus very close - not on a distant subject.

also if it did work few (read no) non L lenses are good enough for a TC without looking carp

I have that lens and a Kenko 1.4x TC - it's miles out, and all EF-S lenses have the same rear protrusion. You need about an extra cm of clearance
