Hi
I already possess the 60mm lens, but was looking to invest in a small prime lens and saw the 50mm f/1.4.

My question is am I wasting my money because are the two lenses are similar?

I would be very grateful of any opinions. ( i also hope this isnt a really daft question as Im new to photography)

Thanks

Hi Roger

Glad you got the posting gremlins under control.

As a previous owner of the ef-s 60mm macro, i'd keep with it.
It's as sharp as a tack and on a body with a cropped sensor, it's the ideal focal length for head and shoulder portraits. For my money the extra stops of the 50/1.4 wouldn't justify the duplication. The extra stops can be offset by upping the iso.

And remember.....there are no daft questions, if you don't know the answer there will also be other people out there asking the same questions.

OTOH in low light the extra TWO stops of the f/1.4 could be very useful...

Thanks for the replies ) I think I will stick with the 60mm for the time being...... and keep saving those pennies!!
