do you mean you cant work out how to COUNT the shutter speed?

Or how to change it??

What mode are you using?

did it come with a manual?

change it i can count easyly and im on av

You won't be able to change the shutter speed in 'Av'. 'Av' stands for 'aperture value' so you'll only be able to change the aperture of the lens in that mode. If you need to change the shutter speed you'll need to be on 'Tv' or 'M'

Or you can use manual and alter both for what you desire.

How long have you been a photography student?

Don't get me wrong mate, but if you spend 30 seconds longer typing your posts you might get more help!!

If you want to be able to control the shutter speed you need to go to Tv. This will enable you set the shutter speed , and the aperture will be adjusted to give the correct exposure.

In fact you can change the shutter speed in Av, by adjusting the aperture using the control wheel the shutter speed will change accordingly. However if you need a fast shutter speed say 1/500 then using Tv is the best option.

Have a read of the manual. It solves most problems;)
