canon eos 60d... just got one :)

hi

um....well 3 weeks after getting an 1100d, I find myself getting a 60d :)

was selling a guitar and the seller owns an online store, he was at my house and seen my camera.... said he had some nice cameras he would trade, new, in box, genuine, he sells a lot of things.

anyway.... the 60d was about the same price as the guitar, so..... I did something mad and said yes (ouch).

he's a good guy, sold to him before, I get the camera In a few days.

my question is..... will the 60d really give me a big difference over the 1100d? I've read the specs, know what it can do, will I really notice the difference day to day?

and yes, I've got the photography bug big time :)
 
You should notice a bit of an increase in the image quality (some will say quite a dramatic increase). Simply being able to crop in further due to the extra megapixels will be useful.

What you will definitley notice though is the performance of the 60D and the handling (presuming you've held one and that you like it). It will just be quicker, and the major camera settings (ISO, Metering, Drive mode, WB etc) will have their own dedicated buttons. And of course, continuous shooting will be quicker and you'll have the flippy out screen.
 
I went from a 500D to a 60D and I think it's hard to distinguish the difference in picture quality, although I think there is some.

But the difference in pleasure of use is massive for me. The 60D feels so much better and with the articulated screen (which I wasn't bothered about to start with) it has put me off wanting to upgrade to a 7D because for my purposes it is better suited (I don't need the speed or bulk of the 7D).

It feels solid, takes great photos and has a great feature set (wireless flash is another bonus). Highly recommended in my opinion.
 
Yeah, the wireless flash is tempting, and the swivel screen... mostly its the better AF and ergonomics that have got me.
Still... cant take away from the 1100D, i still think its a nice camera, i would have been happy to use it another year if this hadnt come along :)
 
I think that the 60D is a noticeable upgrade over the 1100D, less so over a 550d or 600d.
 
I Just upgraded from the 550d to the 60d, mainly for the flip screen as I struggle to get down low due to a back problem

The main things that I notice are build quality, brighter Viewfinder and IMO better feel plus the added bonus of the screen
 
aldo the dial i love the dial on the back of mine, the effects are also nice if your out and about, its also nice and fast and a good weight you will love it i love mine
 
One thing that ALMOST put me off the 60D was the fact that all the reviews said it was a downgrade in some respects from the 50D due to missing button and the plastic body etc BUT all the reviews said it took better images and isn't this the main thing?

I always knew I would want to upgrade my 500D from very early on (so not quite always) but the I feel totally happy that I've for the best I can afford with the 60D. That's what makes me realise it's a great camera and enjoy it more.
