Canon EOS M2

Anyway what is the point of going M2 vs 70D when you slap 24-70 or 70-200mm on it, and perhaps a sizeable rig or at least a monopod?
Well the 70D is a DSLR with OVF : with an EVF you have better options for video, it just seems more optimised. Although ... it doesn't exist, so that's all hypothetical.
Are all the video-tracking-enabled AF lenses quite big then? I don't know them.

If you look at recent sony's like A7 or A77, then probably they have some advantage for video (except low bit rate codec, but then you have to look at Canon 5DIII with ML RAW hack to see much better). I see that EVF is nice to have for video, but you can also add loupe accessory to LCD and have pretty much better results. The do cost a bit of money, and video in general is a lot more expensive (have you looked at proper continuous lighting?) I personally would opt for connecting Nexus 7 via HDMI as external monitor.

The good thing about 70D for video is touchscreen. If you have it on tripod you can so effortlesly switch focus from one person to another. Try that with sony A7.

Small is not really better. Bigger and heavier are easier to grip and hold steadily; setups usually grow to massive rigs. Most video lenses aren't small, the gold standard PL mount ones are massive! On the lower end you can expect very fast primes like 35/1.4L or 85/1.2L, fast f/2.8 zooms and they love 300/2.8. Smaller bits can be something like 50/1.4 or 35/2.0. Anything with USM will AF pretty well as youtube 70D tests show. The thing about cheap STM lenses is less focus noise, but really you shouldn't have the mic on camera to start with. And there are no L lenses with STM.

If there is one really obvious conclusion to make it would be that video is still pretty much in development and hasn't matured from any brand. The next Canon C may well be there considering their marketing department, but I don't hold my breath for 5DIV (without hack)

Just my tuppence worth but I love my EOS M. With the 22mm fitted I take it everywhere with me. The iq is fantastic. I thought photography was about taking photos ? I have a Canon 5D mk3,a 5D classic, a 7D and a Fuji X pro 1 and a recent browse through my aperture library made me realise that I shoot with the eos m more than any other camera.
I know it's not perfect but then what is ? My next purchase is going to be the 11-22mm lens.

Misma mierda, diá differente.

You might want to move over to the EOS M thread, it's a lot livelier than this one.
