Morning all,

I've been getting a little annoyed lately with my 550d and my huge nose, its started to get uncomfortable after long periods behind the lens.
I've looked at the Canon extension but it seems to get bad reviews due to the correction lens built in.
I'm struggling to find any 3rd party options?
Does anybody else use one and what would you recommend?

Much appreciated

have a look at extenders/magnifiers on ebay..there was one that had a fairly large cup and enlarged the view by 36% which might be useful for the 550ds relatively small vf. I think it was made by a company something like tenpa???

Is a nose job out the question... lol!!

second thoughts, the eyepiece extender is probably cheaper lol!!

Thanks all just looked at the tenpa, perfect for what I want but at £30 its way over my budget any other options available?

Haha sorry Dave nose job is definitely out of the question!

Just remove the lens from the Canon one. You can still see everything, and it keeps the rear screen clean.

Thanks for the advice,
Removing the lens from the Canon eyepiece looks to be the cheapest route.
Was talking to a tog friend who mentioned Nikon eyepieces can be made to fit and magnify, and come in a lot cheaper than Canon, anybody gone this route?

Its getting harder and harder to explain why I need to keep spending on bits to the wife? Haha

Cheers

I find it easier to tell mine its on a hot blonde I'm having an affair with rather than admit its on another piece of equipment lol

I use the standard canon eyepiece extender, it takes a couple of days to get used to the slightly smaller view but doesn't cause me any problems at all, its cheap enough if you shop around and does the job its intended to do.

A decent glass screen protector on the rear screen helps as well, makes it easier to get rid of any smears and also means no scratches.
I use the GGS one, cheap but damn good.

Brilliant I'll order myself a Canon one this evening, thanks for all the advice.

Ian: Got one on already seems to be the first thing I buy for anything with a screen :)

Final question, could somebody with the Canon eyepiece fitted please take a sideways profile picture just to show how much further it extends?
I've done a search but can't seem to find a picture of it fitted?

Much appreciated

Is the eyepiece extender that you are looking for the EP-EX15, if so i have one spare as i have now got 1D's
