Canon flashgun advice, please.

Just wondering what the main advantages of the 580 EX flashgun are over the 430 EX version.
I'm considering getting one soon and have noticed the 580 is nearly double the price of the 430, why?
Any advice would be appreciated, cheers, Mark.

I am not up on all the specs but i know the 580 acts as a master and the 530 can be fired as slave units. maybe someone else can tell you some more features hope thats a help

The new 580ex also has more power output.

If you check prices with kerso and if canon still do cash back you can get a 580 ex for very nearly the same price as the 430

The 580 is more powerfull, has more features and custom functions.

It's not actually that much better than the 430, but if you can get them for around the same price then go for the 580.
