Canon G12 with filters

Good morning all.
Having recently acquired a G12 as a back up to my 50D, I am looking at the possibilities of adding a CPL and/or a square filter holder with my Hi Tech ND grads mounted.
I've read numerous threads about lens adapters but my question is a simple one really & I would be grateful for any help.
If I purchase Canon's FA-DC58B adapter (which has a 58mm thread), can I mount a 67mm CPL (via a step-up ring) and also square ND grads without seeing any vignetting at the wide end?

I doubt it'll vignette but you do need to consider that 67mm will actually be blocking part of your viewfinder on a G12....might make composition a little more difficult unless you use Liveview.

Have you checked out the American company "Lensmate" who do filter adaptors for the g10/12? I have one for my g10 and its a much more solid piece of kit than the plastic Canon one.

Jerry12953 - thanks you for your suggestion. Yes, I have looked at the "Lensmate" products but I wasn't sure if the base tube adapter plus 72mm filter holder would allow me to use a step down ring and 67mm CPL without vignetting.

It probably wouldn't. IIRC it was specially designed to fit the smallest diameter filter that would not cause vignetting - ie 72mm

It looks like you are just trying to avoid buying another polariser!

The lens adaptor for the G12 from Canon extends telescopically, you won't get vignetting from the 58mm filter. Putting a filter holder on the front shouldn't either.

The 72mm version from Lensmate (I have their part A and step ring for the wide angle) makes the whole thing very unbalanced - the filter extends below the bottom of the body. You would have the same handling difficulty with a cokin type holder. Putting the wide angle on it makes it very front heavy, but it is only there temporarily.

You need to think about the handling trade off before going down the route you are planning - I just use the Canon filter adaptor and 58mm polariser. Then use the lensmate system for attaching the wide angle. (G12 here - my 10 drowned!)

It's not that I don't want to buy another polariser - I don't have one at all at present!
My aim was to see if there is a way of buying just one CPL and using it with several of my cameras/lenses (I have a Tamron 17-50 on my 50D which has a 67mm filter thread).
I was thinking this would allow me to make sure that I would actually use it before splashing out & buying a second one.
