Canon GP-E2 GPS bug?

No
I've just spent a couple of weeks away with my 5D3 and new GP-E2 and there appears to be a bug in the GPS unit.

I had originally set it to log my position every 15 seconds but, as we were sometimes travelling long distances through India rather than just walking around, I realised it was a little too frequent(!) and changed it using the camera menu to every two minutes. This worked well until I came to turn it back on the next day when I found that, although it could see satellites, it wouldn't lock on and record its position.

After some messing about over the following day, I found that if I used the camera menu to reset it to record every 30 seconds it would work again.

The problem is reproducible. Has anyone else seen it?

After all the trouble I have had with the Canon wireless file transmitter, this problem does not surprise me.

Just out of interest, does the GPS unit use a separate battery?
