Hello

My dad has given me his old tog stuff in which i came across a canon 300mm lens which he used to use on his old slr.

Im thinkin of buying a canon dslr, i havent a clue what the lens is apart from its a canon and its a 300mm.

will this lens work with a canon 450 or 500d? and with the autofocus or am i just talkin rubbish and need to fork out for a new lens?

he also has a canon master slave? for his studio flashlight, will this just fit on a canon 500d and work?

sorry for the lack of details?

If the lens has 'EF' on it, then it will work. Flash probably not!

If the lens is from an old SLR doubt it would have Auto Focus if that's important...

Could you post photos and/or model numbers or any markings? It's a bit hard to help with limited info. Be careful about the old flash, old flashes can be a bit hazardous to newer cameras, but someone more knowledgeable will be along to help out soon I'm sure!

Should tell you on the lens exactly what the model is, and as above if it's an EF it will fit directly on the new DSLR's. If it's an FD mount, you'll need an adapter and I think you'll loose AF (although I'm not 100% about that)

Hope it fits

Look at the front of the lens and give the details running round the rim of the lens and then you will get more help on the forum.
