it's generally expected that the 60D will announced shortly, along with a couple of new lenses, although from what i've read on that site and elsewhere, they're not expected to be anything revolutionary, likely to be updated versions of lenses already out (IS, new lens coatings etc)
So what is the decinding factor on new lens lauches then? Has the tecnology/production methods peaked ou so now there are only small incremental changes as opposed to big exponential leaps forward?

As far as I can tell yes. Nowadays its more about slight improvement to optics, IS, etc... What I want is faster, cheaper lenses, but I doubt that's happening anytime soon.
