So I phone canon elstree 02087314132 for a shutter replace price.. no problems.. just gone over 400 thousand so best get replced before it packs up..

currently on the phone listening to music as the woman goes away for the third time... she seems never to have heard of a 1dx .. she wont quote a price for a new shutter.. just says 60ph plus parts.. whats the parts i ask... we dont know until its here and we look at it she says..... i sigh ... its a shutter replacement.. theres no problems ...she came back wih a list saying did you say mark IV ... NO! 1dx .. oh thats not on here and off she goes again :(

she just came back... 2 hrs at 60 per hr..140 for the shutter and IF the motor needs.....i interupt her.. theres no problem i tell her for the 5th time i just want the shutter replaced..... she says she is just repeating what she is told.. eventualy after almost pleading for a quote she says up to 300 if motor as well..

I thank her and hang up :(

would have been nice to speak to someone who had at least heard of there flagship top of the range dslr :(
 
haha would need a better reason than that to start taking luke warm washed out looking pictures on a camera with the same status as a man utd shirt ...

sending camera off next week.. this motor thing has me worried now.. maybe best to say replce shutter and motor for the extra 40 quid.. if the life is same as shutter than its not gonn alast another 400 thousand..
 
i don't follow football quote " same status as a man utd shirt ..." unquote, so what has that got to do with the far superior Nikon cameras? once a Nikon owner never has the need to look at sub standard Canon rubbish:banana::rolleyes:. Even NASSA chose Nikon for their space voyages, say no more.

When I had a problem with my 7D I phoned Elstree and listened to a woman whose English was so poor I gave up. Took the camera to Parks and let them deal with it
 
Try Fixation instead, There a Canon & Nikon Repair centre aswell and give great service! I emailed them a few months back asking for a shutter replacement cost and they emailed me within 3hours back with the cost + Vat and labour very straight forward and to the point with a decent price aswell and didn't have to send my camera into them to get a quote :)
 
Fixation have been great in the past. Quotations over the phone, answered quickly & with no problems.
