Just bought myself a Canon Sppedlight 43011, it arrived today, chuffed to bits with it, one thing im now wondering is.... other than reading the manual (not very well described), is there anyone out there who can possibly give me some pointers on how to set it up???

Start by reading the manual ............. I know it's a pain, but ................... or google it or look at demos on youtube ..... simples
 
For now put it in ETTL mode. If indoors bounce the flash off walls/ceiling.
Then do what Chazza say.
 
There is a great Bluecrane DVD called understanding the Speedlite 580EX/430EX, I have seen it and its full of good information. Definately worth a look.

What are you having trouble with exactly?

There is no "setting-up" as such: you just attach it to the camera, turn it on and it works. Of course, the intricacies of getting exactly the light you want are complicated, but without knowing what you're trying to do it's hard to answer.
 
What Sam says above, bung it on your cam and shoot away. You can stick it in HSS or 2nd curtain from the flash, its in the manual or delve into manual settings but thats more complicated than it sounds. The blue Crane DVD is brilliant for Cannon users, especially if you have more than one flashgun.

What cam have you got ? my 40D can control some functions of the flash without looking at the back of the flash itself.
