Hey guys, was up country visiting relatives a few days ago and got talking to my uncle about photography. Turns out he's on the darkside and uses Nikon 
When he saw my speedlite he wanted to try it out, after insisting it would only work with a canon and reluctantly handing him it he clipped it on, popped a shot and while the Nikon flash tried to pop up, the speedlite fired. By the looks of the shot it fired at maximum power. So my question is, are Canon and Nikon strobes cross compatible but without any control over power/settings or was this a strange fluke?
