They started a while ago. My new 60D was only built recently

as far as i was aware they weren't manufacturing as much as they could, as why most shops are out of stock...

but i could be wrong...

No, you're not wrong. They were producing at a very low (or much reduced) rate. I think the article I read was on canon rumours, but I could be wrong. It was a couple of months ago now
